The OnLive Service Is To Function On IPhone

OnLive, the service that could completely revolutionise the way we game is set to be available on the iPhone. The game streaming outlet will do away with software and downloadable content in a bid to become “the world’s most powerful games system” and if all goes to plan it will completely “break the console cycle.” This is according to OnLive CEO Steve Perlman anyway who also believes that “downloaded media is past its peak” and that “physical media is in rapid decline.”

In terms of the iPhone what this means is that technically advanced games will be able to perform well on lower powered systems. With the technology about to enter its second round of Beta testing, Perlman has been showcasing it at the DICE summit in Las Vegas where he gave us a glimpse of what we can expect on our devices in the future.

Support for iPhone was confirmed when he showed how Crysis would play out on the device and it showed the title running smooth and fast on the handheld. Another confirmation made was the technology’s functioning in the iPad when he said support for “tablets” would be incorporated. With the everyday use of OnLive through our iPhone’s seeming a big possibility, it looks as though the mighty handset’s gaming reputation will only grow stronger.
